Boracay Recommendations

Boracay Island is one of the most popular tourist spot in the Philippines.  Here are my recommendations in the island.
Hotels
1) Discovery Shores
One of the nicest hotels in Boracay.  They have great customer service.  Each room has a butler.
2) Two Seasons
Great cabanas, smaller than Discover Shores, has a pool
3) Hennan Resorts
This chain has a lot of resorts spread in Boracay.  From my friend’s feedback, the rooms are ok.  If you want to stay in Station 2, consider Hennan Boracay Regency Resort.
Food
1) Shine Restaurant in Lime Hotel  – Chinese
This is a Chinese Hunan restaurant.  Decor is very low key but their seafood dishes are pretty good.  Be sure to try the crab.
2) True Food – Indian Food
Great Indian food in a relaxed chill atmosphere.  If the second floor is open, it is nice to have a nice long lunch there.  Their walls are very colorful.

3) Real Coffee and Tea Cafe
Makers of the famous Calamansi Muffin.  Great place to hangout
4) D’Talipapa
Boracay’s version of Dampa.  Great place to buy seafood and have eateries cook them the way you want it.
5) Two Seasons (restaurant of the hotel)
Must try: 4 cheese pizza and oyster sisig
6) Jonah’s Fruit Shake
An institution in Boracay for fruit shakes.
Other tips
1) Airport – better to fly through Caticlan rather than Kalibo.  Kalibo will add a few hours by bus to go to Boracay Island.
2) Airport transfer – transport from the Caticlan airport to Boracay island is complicated.  Best to arrange this with the hotel or through Klook.

3) Printed hotel reservation – Be sure to print your hotel reservation confirmation.  Before riding any boat to Boracay, there is a desk where you need to show the printed copy.

4) Shops – In case you forgot anything, there are various shops in D’Mall.  There are lots of shops where you can find various things – beach wear, sun block, clothes, bags.

5) Banks and credit cards – most of the major Filipino banks are present with ATMs available. A lot of the establishments also have credit card terminals.

6) Going around – mainly through tricycles at the back road.  They charge between P100-P150 per ride to be shared among all passengers. But if you don’t mind walking, it is nice to walk at the beach.  Back in May, the roads near Station 1 were still being renovated. I hope it is better now.

7) Activities – paraw sailing (sunset sailing), 4×4 bike, kitesurfing, scuba, island hopping.  There are shops in Station 2 where you can arrange these.  You can also ask the hotel tour desk to help you book activities.  Klook is also quite reliable.
